In a newspaper article published by the Florence Morning News October, 03, 1948 the newspaper covers the George Gorman UFO dogfight incident that occurred in Fargo, North Dakota.
This UFO incident was the focus of a Project Blue Book investigation.
Lt George Gorman was flying his P51 at night, when he witnessed a ball of light below him at around 4,500 feet. Gorman pursued the object, but the UFO outmaneuvered his P51 accelerating to roughly 400 mph and rising in altitude to 17,000 feet.
Lt George Gorman chased the object for 27-30 minutes before losing sight of the disc-like object. Lt Gorman’s experience was also witnessed by other individuals.

FARGO, N.D. Oct. 3 – A National Guard fighter pilot today told a story of a 30-minute encounter with a mysterious flying object over this city in the darkness-and his account was supported by two control tower operators and another flier.
In a second statement for Air Force intelligence, the pilot Lt. George Gorman of the 178th Fighter Squadron, North Dakota Air National Guard, claimed he chased and did aerial maneuvers last night with a lighter, disc-like object which outran and outmaneuvered him.
Watching him and the object with binoculars were Lloyd Jenson and H. E. Johnson, both of Fargo, control tower operators at Hector airport here.
